Ain't Goin' Back

Proverbs 26:11

You have been set free! But there are powerful tentacles trying to pull you back to the old you.

Galatians 5:1

Why would any freed slave ever want to go back to what put them in chains? How do you go back to being a slave? Choices! How do you stay free? Choices!

Two steps to keep the old book closed and keep the new story being written:

1 Peter 2:2-3

Feed the new you.

Psalm 119:9

A picture of how that happens…

Luke 10:38-4

Sitting at His feet, listening to Him.

Are you Martha, too busy for time with Jesus?
Or Mary, where nothing is more important?

How to keep your time with Him # 1:
A time you always meet Him.
Questions to ask -

“What did God say here?”

“What am I going to do differently today because He said it?”

Time with Jesus will help you see what He sees. In people. In problems. In decisions.

Luke 19:1-10

What presses the power button on your life? Repentance.

Repentance is the spiritual plutonium of your life.

Life-Changing Repentance is:

Acts 3:19

Real repentance will change the direction of your life and change your mind about sin. Being sorry about your sin isn’t repentance. Changing how you live is!

Repentance makes us want to make things right with the people we’ve hurt.

2 Corinthians 7:11

Once God has shown you what things are wrong in your life, you’re in a hurry to make things right.

Three B’s:

Be accountable to someone you trust.

Js. 5:16

Romans 12:2

let God Clorox your mind.

Burn every bridge to the old you.

Obedience is the proof of a genuinely changed heart.

Acts 19:18-20

Let everyone know you are new and free – and you’re not going back! What radical repentance steps do you need to take?

Repentance brings the power of God exploding all over the place. Power for living is a direct result of obedience. Weakness is a direct result of disobedience.

2 Chronicles 16:9

When you belong to Jesus, He wants you to know that!

Acts 16:30-31

Romans 4:5

No level of obedience saves you, only Jesus.

2 Peter 1:5-9

God tells us to examine ourselves to see if our faith is real.

Romans 7:18-25

When you sin against God, your Holy Spirit alarm will go off.

1 Peter 2:5-9

Evidence of Jesus in your heart is not a sinless life, but in a “sin less” life.

1 John 3:9

Holiness is not optional.

When Jesus calls you to repentance, whatever you do, don’t wait!

God has made it impossible to cling to the cross of His Son and eternal life with one hand, while clinging to our sin and the world with the other.
